About

This is a perfect example of the glory and wealth of the Ottoman Empire. A wooden palace was first built on this site by Ahmet III (1703-1730), and restored by Selim III (1789-1807). The kasır we see today is the work of Sultan Mahmut II (1808-1839). It has Tulip Period (Lâle Devri) decoration and Ottoman furnishings, and serves as a good example of what life was like for the Ottoman ruling class in the 18th Century. The pavilion's gardens and grounds provide a welcoming respite from the city's concrete landscape.
