Very beautiful ancient church in Arrentela, Seixal. From the end of the XV century or early XVI century,its decorative Predominant style is baroque, resultant of a great reconstruction that the church suffered after the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. Its interior, with only one major chamber, is covered by a series of tile panels representing scenes of the life of the Virgin Mary. The altar, in gold leafed wood, previous to the earthquake. Possesses a set of salomonic columns, a detailed sacrário and a painting displaying the Worship of the Holy Sacrament. A magnificent work of plaster in high-relief can be admired through the whole walls, where an image of the Patron Saint stands out, with the "muleta" a fishing boat typical of this region at its feet, surrounded by fishermen, nobles and of the four evangelists. Worth the visit!!!
