We celebrate Christ's birth because it was a necessary step in our salvation. No-one today knows the exact date of Christ's birth. We are commemorating an event in the liturgical annual cycle which is the systematical way by which the story of our faith is told and we can live our faith to bring us closer to God. As the wise man offered gifts to the infant Jesus, so we should think about all the gifts that Christ brought to this world by being born amongst us. Let us focus on what gifts we can give in return. The Gospels are our instruction manual for assembling these gifts.
