Appi Kogen. Located about an hour south of Hachinohe in Iwate Prefecture is Appi. Just get on the toll road and head south! It has amazing skiing/snowboarding in winter and is a perfect mountain for intermediate riders. There is also hiking, beautiful scenery, and various other outdoor activities to enjoy during the remainder of the year. Onsens and restaurants are also plentiful.
