Ansteys Tower
59 Joubert Street
About
Built in 1937, Ansteys Tower was formerly the home of Norman Anstey & Company department store, famous for its beautiful window dressings that could be seen through its plate glass shop fronts. Today, the first three floors have been modernized, losing the elegance the building once had at street level, but its majestic past can still be seen in its upper floors. As well, the inside also retains some of its former splendor with wall-to-ceiling mirrors and decorative brass. The building is now a national monument.
