An tSean Chéibh restaurant opened in 1974 and has been operated by the Muldoon family ever since.Housed in the 300-year-old courthouse and dispensary building which served the three islands up until the early 60s, the restaurant is very proud of it’s world-famous locally-caught fresh fish and chips. “Jaws” director Steven Spielberg and his family are counted among the many well satisfied customers. Having fresh fish landed daily from the locally based small boats gives this restaurant a huge advantage.The restaurant prides itself on giving simple but wholesome food at a reasonable price. Our brown scones are made from a very old secret recipie. These scones, along with a bowl of our seafood chowder are guaranteed to provide the visitor with the start needed to explore the islands many attractions.In 2011, an ice cream parlour and Café were opened in the older part of the building and is called The Old Courthouse Café. The café offers a wide selection of coffees and ice creams which have proved very popular with both tourists and locals.Open usually from April until October, the café section may remain open year round depending on demand.
