the historical ammachi plavu ( mother jack fruit tree) is located inside the sreekrishna temple ,neyyattinkara, about 20 kms from trivandrum city. it believed that the big hole inside the main trunck of the tree was useful to maharaja marthandavarama (1729-1758) who was sarrounded by his enemies. he hide inside the hole and survived the attack. since the tree held the maharaja like a mother who protects the baby inside her womb, the tree got its name and was standing tall inside the temple compound. now you can see a new tree planted at the same spot
