Famed as one of the late comedian John Candy's favorite restaurants, Alycia's is the ultimate place for comfort food, and lets you sample Winnipeg's Ukrainian culture gastronomically. The atmosphere is homey and warm, bedecked with Ukrainian knickknacks and art, and the place is often full of Ukrainian diners. The menu prominently features pierogies, potato-and-cheese stuffed dumplings, which can be pan-fried or boiled (Alycia's pumps out a 12,000 a day!) Alycia's menu also features many North American standards, including plenty of sandwiches on the lunch menu. Prices are extremely reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly.
