The Alai Minar is probably of those few incomplete monuments, situated within the famous Qutub complex in South Delhi. It was Sultan Ala-ud-Din Khalji and his over ambitious nature that made him win many battles and it was after one such win from one of his Deccan campaigns that prompted him to construct a massive Tower so as to commemorate his victory.
