A Syrian island in the heart of Berlin's Moslem district, Al-Kalif is known for its hospitality, with every guest welcomed like an old friend and immediately presented with a cup of cinnamon tea. The highlight is the cosy back room, covered with carpets, cushions and small Arabian tables, around which guests eat, drink and chat. No shoes are allowed and guests are even lent a pair of slippers to go to the bathroom. The food is excellent and represents great value for money. A second branch is located at Berthelsdorferstraße.
