The Museum was established in 1965. It was started in a small room of the 'varsity. In the nineties, it has found its new building near the main administrative building. It is a rich repository of collection in sculpture, coins, paintings, manuscripts, etc. depicting the history and Heritage of North Bengal. The archaeological relics lying scattered in the districts of North Bengal & Sikkim are collected, preserved, studied and then displayed here for public viewing. The place is 8 Km from Siliguri Town and 6 Km from the Bagdogra Airport. Any one can visit the galleries on working days between 11 am to 4 pm free of entrance fees. All you have to do is to contact the department concerned for a formal permission.
