The Agra Fort is located close to the gardens of Taj Mahal on the banks of River Yamuna. The fortress, which was built in the 15th century, is a specimen of Mughal architectural marvel. The construction started during the reign of the Great Emperor Akbar in 1565 and continued up to the period of Emperor Shah Jahan, who was the grandson of Akbar. The Agra Fort measures 2.5 kilometers in length with marvelous enclosure walls. It is built in red sandstones. This mammoth structure encloses several magnificent monuments such as Shah Jahani Mahal, Khas Mahal, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Jahangiri Mahal, Fish Pavilion, Garden of Grapes, the Nagina Masjid, d the Pearl Mosque. It is also a World Heritage Site and the fort is a must-visit for its architectural beauty.
