Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences
8949 Wilshire Boulevard
About
This spot, dedicated to the science and art of motion pictures, is a must-see for any die-hard movie buff. Even non-couch-potatoes will be suitably impressed by the posh façade, ample interiors and the loads of trivia that encompass this huge space, established in 1927. The hub of everything that's Oscar-related, this venue houses the Academy Gallery, Grand Lobby Gallery, Samuel Goldwyn Theater and Academy Little Theater, all of which hold various temporary exhibitions on everything you could possibly want to know about the big screen. While admission is free and open to all in the Academy and Grand Lobby Galleries, it would be best to call and prepare yourself for special events before you head here.
