Cherrapunji in Meghalaya has several reasons to claim. It is the second wettest place on the planet and the only place in India to receive rain throughout the year. The town of Cherrapunji is nestled in the East Khasi Hills about 50 km southwest of state capital Shillong. The town is also known as Sohra and Churra. The most popular trekking route is that leads to Double Decker Living Root bridge in Nongriat village.

Day-wise Itinerary
ExpandDay 1: Arrival At Guwahati And Drive To Shillong
Arrive Guwahati airport and drive to Shillong. Check into hotel and after refreshment if time permits we visit Cathedral of Marry and evening roam the Shillong’s famous Police bazar on foot. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 2: Shillong To Cherrapunjee
After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee. We trek to single decker Living root bridge 3-4 hours from the Resort. Distance 4 km down and up 1000 feet approx. This trek starts from the Resort premises and goes down hill through village Sohsarat. The steps are relatively steeper in two short stretches. Half the distance is covered by steps going down hill. Then there is a jungle path going along the sides of the hill leading to the Living root bridge with a few steps after short stretches of sloping foot path. Moss thrives on these sandstone steps during the monsoon and makes them slippery. Back trek to resort and evening at leisure with local music placed by the local boys. Overnight at Cherrapunjee. OR En route visit the famous Elephant falls and Shillong peak - to enjoy a bird’s eye view of Shillong city. At Cherrapunjee visit Mawsmai cave, Mawsmai falls, Seven sisters falls and Nohkalikai falls. After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Thankarang park, Koh ramhah and Khrem falls. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.
Day 3: Cherrapunjee To Shillong
After breakfast local sightseeing in Cherrapunjee. Later drive back to Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong
Day 4: Shillong To Mwallynong And Later Drive To Shillong
After breakfast excursion to Mwallynong. Drive back to Shillong for overnight stay. Note: It is advisable to carry have packed lunch to Mwallynong.
Day 5: Departure To Airport
After breakfast drive to Guwahati airport.
