Escape to Chikamagalur

• Welcome at Chikamagalur bus stop & proceed to Chikamagalur, a scenic district headquarters is set in the fiertile valley, south of Baba Budan range amidst lush coffee growing hills. The name ‘Chikmagalur’ literally means youngest daughters’s town. It was given as dowry to the youngest daughter of Rukmangada, the chief of Sakrepatna. Another part of the town was presented to the elder daughter and came to be known as Hiremagalur.

• Later visit Sringeri a pilgrim center, known for its Vidyashankara Temple & Sri Sharadamba Temple.
• The Vidyashankara temple at Sringeri was built in memory of Guru Vidyashankara by Vidyaranya, with the aid of the Vijayanagar rulers in the 14th century. The golden image of Sarada was also installed then at the Sarada temple. The temple also houses ruby images of Venugopala and Srinivasa and a Nandi made out of a large pearl. Several inscriptions are seen in the temple, describing contributions made by the Vijayanagar emperors. This temple combines the Hoysala and Dravida architectural features. It stands on a richly sculptured basement. There are six doorways leading into the temple. The twelve pillars in the mandapam are named the Raasi pillars, and are so arranged that the sun's rays fall on each of them, in the order of the solar months.
• The Saradamba Temple-Sarada Devi is enshrined seated on the Sri Chakra Peetham, holding a Japa Mala, with a parrot perched on the top of her hand. The original image of sandalwood was installed by Adi Sankaracharya, and it was replaced with a golden image, in the 14th century. The processional image of Saradamba is enshrined in the sourhern prakaram. There are also shrines to Shakti Ganapati and Bhuvaneswari here. There is also a shrine to Aadi Sankara here.

• After breakfast, proceed to visit Kemmangundi Hill Station. This picturesque hill station is situated at a height of 1434 meters above sea level. Kemmangundi is also known as Sri Krishnarajendra Hill Station. This was the summer retreat of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. Delighted by the beauty of the surroundings Baba Budan Hills, Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV was inspired to build his summer resort at Kemmangundi. He then donated the property to the Government of Karnataka. Kemmangundi has beautiful laid gardens, magnificent mountain ranges and superb valleys, excellent visual treat for the tourists. The main attractions at Kemmangundi are Raj Bhavan (a Guest House), Z point – a place being situated at a high altitude, is known for its strong winds & the Rose garden maintained by the Horticultural Department. One should not miss the spectacular sunset view from Raj Bhavan.
• Secondly visit Hebbe Falls - Just 8 kms away from Kemmannugundi where water streams down from a height of 168 meters in two stages to form Dodda Hebbe (Big Falls) and Chikka Hebbe (Small Falls).

After breakfast, check out from hotel & proceed to Chikmagalur bus stop for departure, back to home with beautiful memories of a life time trip.
