ocated in the Satara District in the Western Ghats range of Maharashtra, Mahabaleshwar is a beautiful hill station 4,500 sq feet above sea level, enveloped amidst lush green hills, strawberry farms and panoramic valleys. It lies on a 150-sq.kms. plateau. The hill station is located at a distance of about 120 kms southwest of Pune and 240 kms from Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai and 200 kms from Kholapur City. The nearest railway station is Satara at a distance of 60 kms. Historically, while the region is said to have been discovered by the British, who developed this place as a health resort. Sir Charles Malet, was the first to visit the place. It was the erstwhile summer capital of the then old Bombay Presidency under the British.
